The Seed and Pump LD Driver module (SPLDD) provides the various solution for the high power pulsed laser driver such as the pre-pumped source for MOPA. This module is a kind of sophisticated multi-functional driver which is composed of 1 channel of Seed Laser Diode Driver(SLDD) and 1 channel of Pump Laser Diode Driver(PLDD).

The SLDD channel can be operated as the pulsed laser driver which can generate the very short pulse down to 400ps, high current pulse up to 1.2A and various shape of laser pulse by superimposing the two individual pulses. The PLDD channel is a kind of the pumping source driver for the pre-amplification of seed laser pulse, which can drive pump LDs up to the power of 750mW for the amplifying source for EDFA. And it also can be used as the driver of Semi-conductor Optical Amplifier (SOA) for amplifying its short pulsed Seed LD signal. The special feature of this SPLDD is that it can modulate the power of LD on its PLDD part at the frequency of higher than 10MHz. This function can be used to improve the efficiency of the optical module and make its application area wider.

The SPLDD module can be controlled and monitored through the Graphic User Interface (GUI) on a remote PC which is connected via a USB2.0. This module can also be controlled by using the rotary knob on the board. By using the GUI and knob, users can control the pulse width, repetition rate, current, pulse shape and thresholds.

This SPLDD module is a compact and multi-functional driver for the high power laser module, and it can be provided as a kind of stand-alone and total solution module like bench-top products.
